CATEGORY : RAINSCREEN SYSTEMS, RENDERED PANELS AND TERRACOTTA TILING

Rainscreen cladding is the outer skin of cladding, which can be fitted to a new or existing building.

The system is usually a form of double-wall construction that uses an outer layer, often decorative, to keep out the rain and an inner layer to provide thermal insulation, prevent air leakage and carry wind loading.

The Principle

The principle behind rainscreen technology provides that water droplets are not driven through the panel joints or openings because the wind pressure acting on the outer face of the panel is equalised in the cavity. Therefore, there is no significant pressure differential to drive the rain through joints.

In extreme conditions, a small amount of water may penetrate the outer cladding. Provision is made to drain any moisture, which does not dissipate through evaporation.

Availability

Rainscreen systems are available in various forms such as through fixed cassette systems, hook on pin systems and stackable systems.

Rainscreen is available in various facades, steel, aluminium, laminate panels and terracotta tiling, in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes.

Updated System

We now offer an updated system, utilising a composite insulated steel faced panel as a complete weather skin, complying with all thermal and airtightness regulations.

The decorative rainscreen is fixed directly to the panel, this may be terracotta tiling, ceramic, timber, or any of a variety of finishes.

We can also provide a pre-finished rendered panel and brickwork slips, which are indiscernible from traditional methods.

The advantages of this system to the construction programme is immense, a dry envelope is provided in minimum time and wet trades can be eliminated.
